My fish, originally uploaded by jdtaylor.

So I thought I would share the biggest fish I caught in Patagonia, a King Salmon. So it actually was a King Salmon, and wasn’t that big, but the only fish I caught. Oh well. My buddy who’s a fishing guide, Otter, dropped it and broke its neck, oh and that’s his ugly foot in the picture. Patagonia fishing is …

Panqueque and me, originally uploaded by jdtaylor.

My new found friend in Chaiten Chile. You see about 6 weeks ago while I was sleeping a dog stole one of my sandals (Chacos) rendering the other one useless. So I disliked dogs, or as I prefer to call them, ´the squirrels of south america´ until about a week ago. Then cam along Turbo the Dog (no picture yet) who …

Off the west coast of Chile is the island of Chiloe. The geography reminded me of North Carolina with rolling hills bu tthe beach was much larger similar to Oregon´s coast with large cliffs dioving into gigantic waves. I am now in Peurto Monnt saying by to Ira. He is heading out tonight back to Montana and I will be heading north to Santiago for a few days. All is well here in South America, especially since the three days of rainign stopped today finally dry …

Buenos Aires, originally uploaded by jdtaylor.

This photo is of the Japanese Garden in Bueons Aires, a very beautiful part of the city. In general I loved this place. I could easily see my self there for a year or two. However, it was a bit loud (trucks and buses) and the air was pretty bad. But we shall give it a few years and see how …

Antartica, originally uploaded by jdtaylor.

So two days ago I returned to South America after a trip to Antartica. A wonderful experience and a beuatiful place. This picture is of an Iceberg with a mountain range in the background. To the left of this picture was thousands of penguins. I got a bit sick of seeing the penguins on land, they are a bit dirty and get …

My initial plan had me trekking in Torres Del Paine for 9 dyas; however, my leg is pulled and a backpack on for 9 days would be very uncomfortable. Thus, I am in Ushuaia and am boarding a boat for Antartica today. Flexibility in both life and your muscular-skeleton is neccesary. So don´t forget to stretch and always allow plans to be changed. I should be going around Cape Horn sometime tomorrow morning and then across the Drake Passage to Antartica a 400 mile gap …

The southernmost city in the world. Or is it. I am currently residing in Ushuaia at a hostel with an Italian/Argentinian who is a big fan of Canada. A plus since I am traveling with a canadian. Puerto Williams is further south, but some consider it merely a town. This place at one time was home to the native Yamana people, but became a penal colony for Britian in the early 1900s. It stays relatively warm here all year with a record low of …

Moreno Glacier -The Action Shot, originally uploaded by jdtaylor.

Yeah a glacier. Pretty cold down here. Penguins and Glaciers. The penguins shall be seen tomorrow and hopefully we can play with them. This is the Moreno glacier named after Francisco Moreno an explorer who never found this glacier. Its about 60 meters high, around 200 feet. In this picture I am about 3/4 of …
