The election of 2006 or lack there of

An article in the Onion sums up nicely the results of the elections this fall. In the state of Massachusetts my current residence, we had one vote that I actually cared about. Should grocery stores, be able to sell wine. And this was the most money spent on any ballot question to date. The grocery stores said yes the liquor stores all said no.

It was a sad result, grocery stores are still not allowed to sell wine. I was a disappointed that people here thought the government can protect us from kids drinking and driving (the main argument to keep wine out of grocery stores), better than, well, I don’t know how about a family or morals, or a sense of what is right. Is the world so bad, that we can’t allow wine in grocery stores. I don’t think so, and I don’t see any rational evidence that proves otherwise.

So I’m moving to place where people have better faith in others, and don’t depend on someone else to watch out for their kids and their families. And besides look at history, any one up here read about the prohibition, yeah that didn’t work too well. Maybe instead of your daughter going to the grocery store with a fake idea, she has to spend a few minutes in the car with a stranger (if you know what I mean) for them to go into the liquor store to get some Pink Zinfandel.

Think about that one.

Its been awhile

Its been awhile since I have updated the site. Who knows. I think its been about 2 years since this started with a break for a few months while I updated everything. In which I am still unsure about how to place my old entries on this. I may start it up again, I may not. And what I am sure of is that people probably stopped checking the site out a few months ago if not a year. Some may think, ‘Its a sad waste such a lovely site with no loving attention.’ Well I think that too sometimes.

Lowell Folk Festival

Lowell Folk Festival After my morning bike ride that went on into the afternoon (I might be a bit red due to no sun tan lotion), I visited a lovely town 30 mintures north for their annual Folk festival. It is the largest in the U.S. and I particularly enjoyed the Irish fiddling, Congolese rumba, Kentucky thumb picking, Andian, Asian, and Indian. Yeah it was pretty good.

Sunrise

Sunrise, originally uploaded by jdtaylor.

Just wanted to write about at least one picture. This sunrise is from a quick weekend trip to Maine. Its alittle south of Acadia National Park, near Rockland Maine. It is very beautiful up there, but the mosquitos were kind of a annoying, especially when trying to sleep under the stars. I managed to see a few satelites between the mosquitos bitting my eyes.

In the past I have had a pack with mosquitos. They don’t bite me I don’t kill them, but aparently the misquitos in Maine are governed by a set of different morals. Or they just didn’t get the memo. Check out my Flickr Site for more pics from this trip and from my first few weeks in MA. (Photos link at top of page).
