Ushuaia

1 February 2006 124 views 2 Comments

The southernmost city in the world. Or is it. I am currently residing in Ushuaia at a hostel with an Italian/Argentinian who is a big fan of Canada. A plus since I am traveling with a canadian. Puerto Williams is further south, but some consider it merely a town. This place at one time was home to the native Yamana people, but became a penal colony for Britian in the early 1900s. It stays relatively warm here all year with a record low of -12 C. About 10 F. It is located on the Beagle Channel. Like Charles Darwin´s HMS Beagle, the boat. I shall be here for a few days to explore come glaciers and parks.
